Cardif Pinnacle turns hope into peace

Press Release

July 7 2011

Local insurance firm Cardif Pinnacle was saddened to hear about the theft of the Bench of Hope from Woodcock Hill as revealed in last week's Borehamwood Times.

To show its continued support to the local community Cardif Pinnacle has pledged to replace the bench so that walkers can once again enjoy a rest, overlooking the peaceful village green.

Sarah Potter, PR Manager for Cardif Pinnacle, said "We know how important the Bench of Hope was to local people. We're deeply saddened that people stole a bench that meant so much to so many. We hope our gesture of replacing the Bench of Hope will go some way to restoring faith in human nature. We've called the replacement the Bench of Peace in honour of our local hospice, and chosen charity, The Peace Hospice."

On July 22, Cardif Pinnacle staff will cement in a new bench in the presence of Councillor Sandra Parnell, Elstree and Borehamwood Town Mayor, and Councillor Pat Strack, Chair Woodcock Hill Village Green.
Sandra Parnell said "I was saddened to think anyone could stoop so low as to steal the Bench of Hope. Thank you to Cardif Pinnacle."

Pat Strack said "I am delighted that we will have a replacement as the bench is used by so many people. Children from local churches constructed the Bench of Hope last year as part of their service to the community.

I've asked Janet Foster who arranged the Hope 2010 service teams and she is delighted to have the new bench called the Bench of Peace. She too will attend the naming ceremony and installation of the new bench, as will Mark Carter of Herts CMS who led the groups working there.
